Transnational Village Day

Transnational Village Day is an anthropological film made by Dakxin Bajrange, Mario Rutten and Sanderien Verstappen. It was conceptualised and supervised by Mario Rutten and Sanderien Verstappen, based on the long-term research of Mario Rutten in the central Gujarat region and among migrants from the region in the UK. It is directed by Dakxin Bajrange. The film is part of the Provincial Globalisation research programme of the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), University of Amsterdam, and the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore, India, funded by WOTRO Science for Global Development, the Netherlands (NWO).

Sanderien Verstappen Awarded PhD Degree by University of Amsterdam

Sanderien Verstappen successfully defended her thesis on January 11, 2016, and was awarded the PhD degree by the University of Amsterdam.The title of her dissertation is ‘Mobility and the Region: A Multi-Scalar Ethnography of the Vohra Gujarati Community in India and Abroad'. The ProGlo team congratulates Sanderien on her achievement.
