NRIs can do more with government's support

Migrations from India to foreign countries that started as a trickle in the 1960s, became a deluge in the late 1990s and it has now reached a stage where the Indian diaspora is considered as one on which the sun never sets. Indians have emerged as a ‘transnational community' wielding tremendous clout in the US, UK, Canada and other developed countries.

Remove impediments: stakeholders

The Stakeholders' Meeting on ‘Non-Resident Indians' Contribution to Development in Guntur district' held here on Monday discussed the finer aspects of financial support extended to projects in India by NRI ranging from the construction of toilets for the poor to bigger ones including some activities suspected as benefiting terrorists.
